Roast chicken for dinner? Don’t throw away the carcass. Pop it in a pot or slow cooker, cover with water and simmer for a good few hours. The flavour and nutrients will seep from the bones, leaving you with a delicious chicken stock. Use this as a base for a hearty, healthy chicken and vegetable soup.

Health tip of the week: Choosing the right yoghurt

Yoghurt is a great addition to your diet – an excellent source of calcium and a decent dose of protein. Be careful of brands that have a lot of added sugar though – typically your fruit flavoured ones will have a fruit syrup of a sort added to them to give the flavour. Rather choose fresh from the farm, untampered with, natural yoghurt which will be higher in probiotics (good for your gut!), lower in sugar and higher in those heart-healthy fats.
