Master a few simple sauces: think passata, Alfredo sauce and a peanut sauce. Once you know how to make these sauces you can make ahead and keep in a glass jar or container in your fridge and use them to jazz up any meal – add them to steak, roasted veg, pulled pork or roast chicken.

Health tip of the week: Prep for a week of healthy eating

Too little time is one of the biggest reasons people end up reverting to fast food or ready meals when it comes to supper. Try cutting up your veg in advance – take an hour on the weekend and slice up onions, peppers, broccoli, carrots and any other veg you may want during the week and store in airtight containers in the fridge. It just makes your life that much easier come supper time.

A delightful combination of floured chicken and peach slices cooked in orange juice, honey, soy sauce, vinegar and chicken stock. So easy to put together, it can be served with just beans for those watching their waistlines and there is the option of adding rice for those that aren’t.

Creamy Tomato & Ground Beef Casserole

This dish may sound rather run-of-the-mill but the secret is in the sauce! Our own homemade tomato sauce is, even if we say so ourselves, just fabulous. And it contains no unhealthy ingredients and no nasty chemicals. Add sour cream to that and you have a winner. We layer bow-tie pasta with the creamy tomato mince, wilted spinach and grated mozzarella. Delicious and nutritious!
